| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Mary Lynn Borchardt of Ludlow, who passed | 4 | | away on October 18, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Mary Borchardt was born in Oconto, Wisconsin to | 6 | | Clifford and Rosemary (Fabry) Rafoth on November 17, 1935; she | 7 | | graduated from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, where she | 8 | | majored in education; she received a master's degree in | 9 | | counseling and an administrative degree from Eastern | 10 | | University; she married Robert Edward Borchardt in Wausau, | 11 | | Wisconsin on June 19, 1959; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Mary Borchardt taught kindergarten in South | 13 | | Dakota and at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota; she | 14 | | taught English in Turkey and then kindergarten again in | 15 | | Wichita, Kansas; she retired after over 30 years of teaching | 16 | | social studies at the junior high level and continued to sub at | 17 | | Thomasboro; she also could be found working at Swindford's | 18 | | Lottery Store, selling winning tickets; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Mary Borchardt was affectionately known as "Mrs. | 20 | | B"; she coached girls basketball, track, and softball; she | 21 | | enjoyed spending time with her family and loved to watch her | 22 | | son, Jon, and grandson, Josh, golf; after she retired from |

| 1 | | teaching, she continued to help Jackie with various school | 2 | | activities; she had a green thumb, which resulted in beautiful | 3 | | flower gardens; she loved to follow her Wisconsin Badgers and | 4 | | Green Bay Packers; her ability to relate to everyone she met | 5 | | was truly a gift; she always looked for the good in everyone, | 6 | | and, once she met someone, she never forgot them; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Mary Borchardt was preceded in death by her | 8 | | husband, Robert; her parents; and her brother, John Douglas | 9 | | Rafoth; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Mary Borchardt is survived by her children, Jackie | 11 | | and Jon Borchardt; her sister, Jan (Len) Meissen; and her | 12 | | grandson, Joshua Borchardt; therefore, be it
| 13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 15 | | Mary Lynn Borchardt and extend our sincere condolences to her | 16 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 17 | | further
| 18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 19 | | presented to the family of Mary Borchardt as an expression of | 20 | | our deepest sympathy.
