| SENATE RESOLUTION
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate were deeply | 3 |
| saddened to learn of the death of Charles Aronin Lippitz of | 4 |
| Evanston on July 1, 2004; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Charles Aronin Lippitz was born on September 18, | 6 |
| 1926, in Chicago; he received a bachelor's degree from the | 7 |
| University of Chicago and a law degree from the University of | 8 |
| Chicago Law School in 1951; and
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Lippitz's professional accomplishments
began | 10 |
| with a career in tax, estate planning, and
trust law; he was a | 11 |
| partner in Levenfeld, Kanter, Baskes, and Lippitz; he served
as | 12 |
| president of the Federal Bar Association (7th Circuit) for many | 13 |
| years and maintained a leadership position on the Chicago | 14 |
| Committee to Defend the Bill of Rights; and
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, In 1986, Mr. Lippitz left the practice of law to | 16 |
| become a film producer, winning the award for Best Family Film | 17 |
| at the 1994 Santa Clarita International Film Festival for his | 18 |
| feature "Season of Change"; he also worked with Zev Braun, a | 19 |
| West Coast film producer, on various film projects; in 1995, | 20 |
| Mr. Lippitz won an Emmy Award as executive producer of the PBS | 21 |
| television documentary, "Frank Yankovic: America's Polka | 22 |
| King"; he also served as vice president and a producer of | 23 |
| "Enter Here," a nationally distributed vocational videotape | 24 |
| series for high school students; and

| WHEREAS, More recently, Mr. Lippitz wrote plays, acted, | 26 |
| co-chaired Northlight Theatre's Open Door Ensemble, and served | 27 |
| as co-vice president of The Shakespeare Project of Chicago; his | 28 |
| play "Different Music" was performed at Circle Theatre's New | 29 |
| Plays Festival 2003; and
| 30 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Lippitz was very active in the Evanston Fourth |

| of July Association; in 1983, he served as celebration manager | 2 |
| of the association, having served as fireworks chairman for | 3 |
| several years; and | 4 |
| WHEREAS, One of Mr. Lippitz's great joys was guiding and | 5 |
| mentoring young people seeking to make their mark in the world; | 6 |
| he passed on his passion and love for the arts to his children; | 7 |
| and | 8 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Charles Aronin Lippitz will be | 9 |
| deeply felt by many, especially his wife of 53 years, Rhita; | 10 |
| his daughters, Erica "Riki" Lippitz (John Schechter) and Lori | 11 |
| Lippitz (Marc) Chinitz; his son, Michael (Susan); his | 12 |
| grandchildren, Robin, Anna, Marc, Gabriel, Eliana, Lev, and | 13 |
| Kayla; his sister, Shari (Herbert) Rosen; and his extended | 14 |
| family members; therefore, be it
| 15 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL | 16 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 17 |
| Charles Aronin Lippitz along with all who knew and loved him | 18 |
| and extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; | 19 |
| and be it further
| 20 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 21 |
| presented to the family of Charles Aronin Lippitz as an | 22 |
| expression of our deepest sympathy.
