| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Betty Lou Felder of East Moline, formerly | 4 | | of Davenport, Iowa, who passed away on July 21, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Betty Felder was born in Iowa City, Iowa to | 6 | | Anthony and Jacqueline (Lorang) Felder on March 3, 1939; she | 7 | | attended St. Luke's School of Nursing, Scott Community College, | 8 | | Marycrest College, and St. Joseph's College of Maine; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Betty Felder worked in the operating room at the | 10 | | former St. Luke's Hospital; she then joined the United States | 11 | | Army, where she served in the nurse corps for over 17 years; | 12 | | she attained the rank of major and had been stationed in both | 13 | | Vietnam and Germany; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Betty Felder began volunteering with the Ground | 15 | | Observation Corp at the age of 14; she was also a hospice | 16 | | volunteer; she had a strong faith and believed in serving her | 17 | | church; she was a eucharistic minister and helped with the | 18 | | bazaar at St. Mary's, volunteered at the Diocese of Davenport, | 19 | | and spent 16 months in Medjugorje; she enjoyed crocheting, | 20 | | sewing, quilting, and painting with watercolors and received a | 21 | | certification from Bob Ross; she also taught cake decorating; | 22 | | and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Betty Felder was preceded in death by her parents; | 2 | | her siblings, Verna, Jeanene, Jeffery, Jerry, and Tony; and her | 3 | | nephew, Richard Wilson; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Betty Felder is survived by her nieces, nephews, | 5 | | cousins, and friends; therefore, be it
| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 7 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 8 | | Betty Lou Felder and extend our sincere condolences to her | 9 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 10 | | further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 | | presented to the family of Betty Felder as an expression of our | 13 | | deepest sympathy.
