| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Helen "Jean" McPartlin, who passed away | 4 | | on May 8, 2017; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Helen McPartlin was born in Joliet to Floyd and | 6 | | Helen Garrett on June 5, 1926 and grew up in Ingalls Park; she | 7 | | graduated from Joliet Township High School in 1944 and resided | 8 | | in the Cherry Hill subdivision for 57 years; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Helen McPartlin was happy to be a homemaker and | 10 | | stay at home mom, though she was rarely at home; she was the | 11 | | taxi driver for all the kids' activities and a Scout Leader for | 12 | | 17 years; she was an "official bleacher sitter" for her kids | 13 | | and grandkids sports and loved taking them skating and | 14 | | sledding; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Helen McPartlin loved hosting celebrations and | 16 | | was never happier than when surrounded by family and friends; | 17 | | she was affectionately known as "Grandma Mac" and "GG"; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Helen McPartlin was a great cook; she loved to | 19 | | make bread, bake pies, and create holiday chocolate candies, a | 20 | | McPartlin family tradition; she played tennis into her mid 70s, | 21 | | and loved her flowers and vegetable garden, canning and |

| 1 | | freezing the bounty; she played pinochle with the card club | 2 | | from high school and spent Sunday nights with the family; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Helen McPartlin was a member of the Council of | 4 | | Catholic Women at St. Jude's Church in New Lenox and was an | 5 | | active parish member; and | 6 | | WHEREAS, Helen McPartlin was preceded in death by her | 7 | | husband, Art; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Helen McPartlin is survived by her children, Ken | 9 | | (Julie), Penny (Dave) Newkirk, Dennis (Marlene), Brian | 10 | | (Kathy), Tim (Amie), Tom (Dean), and Tina; her grandchildren, | 11 | | Richard (Stephanie) McPartlin, Happy (Brad) Nacht, Bradley | 12 | | (Cara) Newkirk, Randal (Amy) Newkirk, Craig (Lana) McPartlin, | 13 | | Todd (Isabel) McPartlin, Alicia (Greg) Gonda, Amber (Nick) | 14 | | Meyer, Marissa (Rogelio) Alvarado, Chelsea McPartlin, Kim | 15 | | (Dylan) Carr, Richard Boisclair, Andrew (Natasha) McPartlin, | 16 | | Tracey (Rich) Zaleski, Ian (Christine) McPartlin, Matthew | 17 | | (Jamie) McPartlin, and Daniel (Sue) McPartlin; and her 29 | 18 | | great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
