| 2 | | WHEREAS, It is important to recognize those who contributed | 3 | | to the betterment of the State of Illinois
through public | 4 | | service; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois General | 6 | | Assembly pays honor and respect to individuals
who gave their | 7 | | lives in the service of the State; and | 8 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 9 | | learn of the death of Christopher "Chris"
R. Brown of Hudson, | 10 | | who passed away on March 5, 2013; and | 11 | | WHEREAS, Christopher Brown was born on November 9, 1973 in | 12 | | Hershey, Pennsylvania to Michael R. and Pamela S. Walters | 13 | | Brown; he graduated from Charleston High School in 1992 and | 14 | | married Amie Melton on June 7, 1997 in Peoria; and | 15 | | WHEREAS, Christopher Brown was a 12-year member of the | 16 | | Bloomington Fire Department; he was also
a 3-year member of the | 17 | | Hudson Community Fire Department and a 2-year member of the | 18 | | Peoria
Heights Fire Department and the Morton Fire Department; | 19 | | he was a
member of the Associated Firefighters of Illinois | 20 | | Honor Guard; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Christopher Brown enjoyed spending time with his | 2 | | family, fishing, camping, playing hockey,
and watching the | 3 | | Chicago Blackhawks; and | 4 | | WHEREAS, Christopher Brown was preceded in death by his | 5 | | maternal grandfather, Willis W. Walters; his
paternal | 6 | | grandfather, Jack Brown; and his paternal uncle, Dana A. Clark; | 7 | | and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Christopher Brown is survived by his wife, Amie; | 9 | | his sons, Max and Mason; his parents; his
brother, Anthony M. | 10 | | (Kimberly) Brown; his sister, Jennifer Renee (Frank) Radek; his | 11 | | maternal
grandmother, Beverly J. Behnke; his paternal | 12 | | grandmother, Barbara L. Kline; his in-laws, Robert and Joan
| 13 | | Melton; and his many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Christopher Brown was killed in the line of duty | 15 | | while responding to a traffic accident on
Interstate 39; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, On March 8, 2013 Governor Quinn ordered flags | 17 | | flown at half-staff to honor firefighter
Christopher Brown from | 18 | | March 9, 2013 through sunset on March 11, 2013; therefore, be | 19 | | it

| 1 | | SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate the section of | 2 | | Interstate 39
between Exit 8 and Exit 5 the Firefighter | 3 | | Christopher R. Brown Memorial Highway; and be it further
| 4 | | RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation | 5 | | is requested to erect at suitable locations,
consistent with | 6 | | State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs | 7 | | giving notice of the name; and be it further | 8 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | 9 | | presented to the family of Christopher R. Brown, the
| 10 | | Bloomington Fire Department, the Hudson Community Fire | 11 | | Department, the Peoria Heights Fire Department, the Morton Fire | 12 | | Department, and the Secretary of the Illinois Department of | 13 | | Transportation.
