| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 |
| learn of the death of Alfred "Shorty" Hurndon, Jr. of Waukegan, | 4 |
| who passed away on December 15, 2007; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Alfred "Shorty" Hurndon, Jr. was the son of the | 6 |
| late Alfred and Sarah Bledsoe Hurndon, and was born January 6, | 7 |
| 1931 in Waukegan; and
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, He graduated from Waukegan Township High School | 9 |
| and lived in Waukegan all his life; and
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, In his younger years he was a prodigy of the late | 11 |
| Doctor Eugene King of Waukegan; he retired from American Steel | 12 |
| and Wire and the State of Illinois Tollway Authority; and he | 13 |
| served his country in the United States Marine Corps; and
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, He was a member of the Little Fort Elks in North | 15 |
| Chicago; he loved to meet with his friends early every morning | 16 |
| at McDonalds for coffee and chat; and | 17 |
| WHEREAS,
Alfred Hurndon, Jr. was preceded in death by his | 18 |
| parents; his sister, Shirlene Fisher; and his late wife, | 19 |
| Ophelia Hurndon; and

| WHEREAS, He leaves to cherish his memory a special friend, | 2 |
| Irene Jones; his three daughters, Yvonne (George) Mitchell, | 3 |
| Gwynetta (Bruce) Nevils, and Ramelle (Gregory) Eubanks; his | 4 |
| four grandchildren; his two nephews; and his goddaughter; a | 5 |
| host of great-grandchildren; and many dear friends; therefore, | 6 |
| be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL | 8 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 9 |
| Alfred "Shorty" Hurndon, Jr. and express our sincere | 10 |
| condolences to his family and friends at this time; and be it | 11 |
| further
| 12 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 |
| presented to the family of Alfred "Shorty" Hurndon, Jr. as a | 14 |
| symbol of our sincere sympathy.
