1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Norma Mader was born on March 4, 1919 in Chicago
3 to Joseph and Mary Komer, Jewish immigrants from Europe; and
4 WHEREAS, Norma Mader met and fell in love with Harvey
5 Mader while they were working at the Packing House Union and
6 married on October 12, 1946; and
7 WHEREAS, Norma and Harvey were loving parents to their
8 two children, David and Bob, and loving grandparents to their
9 six grandchildren; and
10 WHEREAS, In addition to being a devoted wife, mother, and
11 grandmother, she was a long-term employee of the Department
12 of Children and Family Services, and worked at the Illinois
13 Department of Health for 19 years; and
14 WHEREAS, Whether working at the family business or the
15 State of Illinois, she was a selfless, kind, hard-working
16 woman who was loyal to her beliefs, valued her community, and
17 was always ready to help out in any way she could; and
18 WHEREAS, Norma Mader was a passionate supporter of union
19 movements, an active member of the Democratic Party of
20 Evanston; she valued the progressive values that Senator Paul
21 Wellstone brought to politics; and
22 WHEREAS, Norma Mader always carried a happy and joyous
23 disposition that brightened the days and lives of all those
24 she touched; therefore, be it
25 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
26 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
27 we offer our deepest condolences and most heartfelt sympathy
28 to the family and many friends of Norma Mader, and join them
29 in sorrow at this time of loss; and be it further
30 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

1 spread upon the official proceedings of this Honorable Body
2 and that an official copy of the same be tendered to the
3 family of Norma Mader, that her memory may be so honored and
4 ever cherished.
