| 1 | | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives wish to commend Andrea L. Evans on her service | 4 | | to her community; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Andrea Evans retired from a career with the | 6 | | Bureau of Labor Statistics in 1998 and soon began volunteering | 7 | | in her community, wanting to make a difference; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Andrea Evans served as president of the | 9 | | Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) at Jesse Owens Community | 10 | | Academy for three years
and as president of the Lincoln | 11 | | Elementary School PTA for ten years; both PTA's received | 12 | | numerous awards and recognitions during her tenures as | 13 | | president; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Andrea Evans was the parent leader for Parents | 15 | | Anonymous of Illinois and traveled to Washington, DC to | 16 | | receive the Illinois parent of the year award; she was | 17 | | recognized by her alderman, mayor, and city council for this | 18 | | honor; and | 19 | | WHEREAS, Andrea Evans was elected the first African | 20 | | American president of the Calumet City, Lansing and Burnham | 21 | | PTA; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Andrea Evans served as a secretary to an alderman | 2 | | in Calumet City and as secretary of the South Suburban Action | 3 | | Conference, which advocates for racial minorities in the south | 4 | | suburbs; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Andrea Evans became an employee of the Calumet | 6 | | Memorial Park District in 2011; she began as a front desk | 7 | | assistant and then was promoted to the business office as | 8 | | assistant to the executive director/special events | 9 | | coordinator; she successfully ran several events, including | 10 | | Black History programs, daddy/daughter dances, and back to | 11 | | school events; she has also chaired Christmas parties and | 12 | | farewell parties for retirees and ran a successful summer day | 13 | | camp for three years; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Andrea Evans is the associate minister at her | 15 | | church, God's Word Christian Center, in Calumet City, where | 16 | | she has been a member for 27 years; therefore, be it
| 17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 18 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 19 | | we commend Andrea L. Evans on her service to her community and | 20 | | her commitment to making a difference; and be it further
