| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Colleen Marie Allen of Streamwood, | 4 | | formerly of Channahon, who passed away on March 15, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Colleen Allen was born in Joliet to Paul and | 6 | | Katherine (Foster) Sewing on March 25, 1989; she graduated from | 7 | | Minooka High School in 2007, where she was involved in the band | 8 | | and choir; she earned her bachelor's degree in broadcast | 9 | | communications from Loyola University; her love of food and | 10 | | cooking led her to Joliet Junior College, where she received | 11 | | her degree in culinary arts; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Colleen Allen was employed by several | 13 | | broadcasting and television stations, including Channel 20 in | 14 | | Springfield, Channel 9 in Charlotte, North Carolina, and most | 15 | | recently, Channel 5 in Chicago; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Colleen Allen lived an active life; in her free | 17 | | time, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, and knitting; she recently | 18 | | became a proficient blogger, wanting to tell her story and | 19 | | raise awareness for breast cancer; she enjoyed traveling and | 20 | | made several trips to Europe; she loved being a wife and | 21 | | mother; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Colleen Allen was preceded in death by her | 2 | | maternal grandparents, James and Mildred Foster, and her | 3 | | paternal grandmother, Carol Sewing; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Colleen Allen is survived by her husband, Ted | 5 | | Allen; her son, Russell Allen; her parents, Paul and Katherine | 6 | | Sewing; her brother, Connor (Amanda Alasauskas) Sewing; her | 7 | | grandfather, Heinz Sewing; her husband's parents, Rich and | 8 | | Kathy Allen; her sister-in-law, Amy Allen; and her many aunts, | 9 | | uncles, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 12 | | Colleen Marie Allen and extend our sincere condolences to her | 13 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 14 | | further
