| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of George Georgevits of Alton, who passed | 4 | | away on April 17, 2013; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, George Georgevits was born on August 17, 1918, in | 6 | | Jersey County to John and Katherine Georgevits; he married | 7 | | Helen Marie Cason on December 31, 1940; he served his country | 8 | | in World War II as a sergeant in the U.S. Army and was a forward | 9 | | observer and radio operator; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, George Georgevits settled in Alton and lived there | 11 | | his entire life; he operated a service station for many years; | 12 | | in the early 1970s he owned and operated his own brake shop in | 13 | | Godfrey; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, George Georgevits was active in his church and | 15 | | community and was a member of Piasa Lodge #27; he enjoyed | 16 | | working with Pride on the Bucket Brigade and loved to camp, | 17 | | fish, and garden; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, George Georgevits was preceded in death by his | 19 | | wife of 62 years, Helen; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, George Georgevits is survived by his daughters, |
