1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of
3 Illinois were deeply saddened to learn of the death of
4 Private First Class Brandon Ramsey of the 933 Military Police
5 Company, United States Army National Guard who was killed on
6 August 8, 2003 in Iraq serving Operation Enduring Freedom;
7 and
8 WHEREAS, Private Ramsey was born January 14, 1982 in
9 Chicago to Deborah Ramsey; he began his formal education at
10 Altgeld Grammar School; his family moved to Riverdale where
11 he continued school, graduating from General George Patton
12 Grammar School; he entered Thornton Fractional High School
13 and pursued his love of art and music; in June 2000, he
14 graduated from T.F. North High School; he then began working
15 for Dick James Ford where he was well-liked by the staff; and
16 WHEREAS, Private Ramsey wanted to further his education
17 and joined the National Guard Army Reserve; he was serving as
18 a Military Police Specialist; and
19 WHEREAS, Private Ramsey loved being with his family and
20 friends and he lived life to the fullest; his passing will be
21 deeply felt by many, especially his mother, Deborah Ramsey
22 Fleming; his devoted brother, Vaughn; his sister, Angela; his
23 grandmother, Ceola Young (Curtis); and a host of aunts,
24 uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many more family and
25 special friends; and
26 WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his grandfather,
27 Lloyd Ramsey, Sr.; therefore, be it
28 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
29 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing
30 of Private First Class Brandon Ramsey along with all who knew
31 and loved him and extend our sincere condolences to his

1 family and friends; and be it further
2 RESOLVED, Private Ramsey was posthumously awarded the
3 Purple Heart for his heroic action on the battlefield; his
4 dedication of service to this country led to the ultimate
5 sacrifice; and be it further
6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to the family of Private First Class Brandon
8 Ramsey.
