| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Arthur "Ozzie" Frank Carlson of Silvis, | 4 | | who passed away on September 20, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Arthur Carlson was born in Geneseo to Abner F. and | 6 | | Louise C. Kulper Carlson on December 24, 1928; he married | 7 | | Dolores E. Swanson at St. Paul Lutheran Church on April 8, | 8 | | 1949; he served in the United States Army during the Korean | 9 | | War; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Arthur Carlson worked for the former Hardin | 11 | | Implement in Orion before being drafted into the Army; he later | 12 | | worked in electrical wiring for Montgomery Elevator in Moline; | 13 | | and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Arthur Carlson was a member of the Orion American | 15 | | Legion and the Orion VFW and Honor Guard, where he helped with | 16 | | the annual Easter Egg Hunts; he and his wife were chairs of the | 17 | | craft tents for the Orion Fall Festival; he especially enjoyed | 18 | | antiquing and making numerous yard swings; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Arthur Carlson was preceded in death by his wife, | 20 | | Dolores; his parents; his brothers, Charles Carlson, and | 21 | | Richard Carlson; and his sisters, Emma Stevenson, and Vera |

| 2 | | WHEREAS, Arthur Carlson is survived by his children, | 3 | | LaVerne A. (Penny) Carlson, and Joyce E. (Rick) Hepner; his | 4 | | grandchildren, Kristi (David) Chipman, and Sarah (Brian Allen) | 5 | | Hepner; his great-grandchildren, Jonathan Chipman, Andrew | 6 | | Chipman, Matthew Chipman, Oscar "Ozzie" Allen, and Simon Allen; | 7 | | and his half-sisters, Debra (Alan) Wright, and Melanie (Rick) | 8 | | Garrett; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | Arthur "Ozzie" Frank Carlson, and extend our sincere | 12 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 13 | | him; and be it further
