| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Kenneth Carter "Ken" Gutman, formerly of | 4 | | Waukegan, who passed away on September 13, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ken Gutman was born in Memphis, Missouri to David | 6 | | and Hazel (Carter) Gutman on May 30, 1921; he was raised on a | 7 | | small farm and graduated high school in 1939; he joined the | 8 | | United States Navy and served during World War II; he was | 9 | | stationed in both the European and Asia-Pacific theaters; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Following the war, Ken Gutman joined Abbott | 11 | | Laboratories in North Chicago, where he worked from 1946 until | 12 | | 1986; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, After he retired, Ken Gutman traveled the world | 14 | | with his wife and visited many countries across Europe, Asia, | 15 | | and South America; he also had a passion for trap and skeet | 16 | | shooting and helped run the Conservation Club of Kenosha for | 17 | | several years; an avid fisherman and hunter, he spent many | 18 | | summers traveling with friends to fish in Canada and the | 19 | | Arctic, which kept his family well stocked with walleye and | 20 | | salmon; he loved to watch football, baseball, and golf; after | 21 | | moving to Michigan at the age of 92, he became a fan of the | 22 | | Detroit Tigers, Lions, and Red Wings; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Ken Gutman was preceded in death by his parents | 2 | | and his wife, Louise; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Ken Gutman is survived by his sons, Gregory | 4 | | (Vicki) Gutman and David (Susan) Gutman; and his grandchildren, | 5 | | Sarah Louise Gutman and Andrew John Gutman; therefore, be it
| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 7 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 8 | | Kenneth Carter "Ken" Gutman and extend our sincere condolences | 9 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | 10 | | it further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 | | presented to the family of Ken Gutman as an expression of our | 13 | | deepest sympathy.
