| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Robert A. "Bob" Kadar of New Lenox, | 4 | | who passed away on December 16, 2022; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bob Kadar was born on August 3, 1950; he was the | 6 | | son of Angeline and Emil Kadar; he spent time with his siblings | 7 | | in an orphanage in Chicago; at the age of 17, he enlisted in | 8 | | the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War; he was promoted to | 9 | | lance corporal and earned three Purple Hearts, the Navy | 10 | | Commendation Medal, and the Navy Achievement Medal for his | 11 | | selfless and heroic service; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, After returning home from Vietnam, Bob Kadar | 13 | | worked for a crisis line before working as a canoe guide for | 14 | | the YMCA in northern Minnesota, where he fell in love with the | 15 | | Minnesota Northwoods and purchased a little cabin on Crane | 16 | | Lake; his cabin became one of his life's great joys, and he | 17 | | spent time there with friends and family fishing, canoeing, | 18 | | playing the guitar, telling stories, battling mice and | 19 | | mosquitoes, and just generally trying to fix broken things; | 20 | | and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Bob Kadar eventually moved back to Illinois; he | 22 | | married Jean "Jeanie" Boharski in 1982, and they had two |

| 1 | | children, Emily and Michael; he later rekindled the | 2 | | relationship with his son, Josh, and his family; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Bob Kadar was a true jack of all trades; he worked | 4 | | as a maintenance mechanic and auctioneer before finally | 5 | | landing in the role of pawnbroker, where he worked until | 6 | | retirement; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Bob Kadar was a dedicated husband and father; he | 8 | | wrote music and lyrics, played the guitar, and sang | 9 | | beautifully; he especially enjoyed entertaining around a | 10 | | campfire as long as the fire burned; he will be remembered for | 11 | | his larger-than-life gregarious personality and his endearing | 12 | | and compassionate nature; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Bob Kadar was preceded in death by his parents | 14 | | and his brother, Arthur "Art" Kadar; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Bob Kadar is survived by his wife of 40 years, | 16 | | Jean; his children, Emily (Jeremy) Brzycki, Michael Kadar, and | 17 | | Joshua (Tricia) Cummings; his grandchildren, Maxwell Brzycki, | 18 | | Owen Brzycki, Aiyana Cummings, and Joshua Cummings Jr.; his | 19 | | sisters, Carol (Carl) Michaels, Darlene (James) Reinke, and | 20 | | Tracy Kadar; and his numerous nieces, nephews, and friends; | 21 | | therefore, be it

| 1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 2 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 3 | | Robert A. "Bob" Kadar and extend our sincere condolences to | 4 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 5 | | further
| 6 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 7 | | presented to the family of Bob Kadar as an expression of our | 8 | | deepest sympathy.
