| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Mariclare Barrett of Oak Park, who passed | 4 | | away on September 4, 2015; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Mariclare Barrett was born on July 2, 1951 in | 6 | | Berwyn; her parents were Mary and Wendell Barrett; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Mariclare Barrett graduated from Nazareth High | 8 | | School and earned her Bachelor of Arts at Michigan State | 9 | | University in 1973; in 1978, she became a physician assistant | 10 | | through Johns Hopkins University; in 1999, she joined Rosalind | 11 | | Franklin University as an assistant professor in the Physician | 12 | | Assistant Department and went on to teach a variety of | 13 | | subjects, including her favorite, "The Psychosocial Aspects of | 14 | | Patient Care", where she taught students to communicate about | 15 | | illness and mortality by sharing her own ongoing experience | 16 | | with stage-four breast cancer; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Mariclare Barrett was the proud mother of six | 18 | | sons; she was a gifted storyteller who loved regaling friends | 19 | | with the antics and successes of her boys and her many wild but | 20 | | true tales about sideswiping President Bill Clinton's car, | 21 | | talking Charlie Trotter into catering a meal at her home, and | 22 | | serving vegetarian "ribs" at Mike Royko's annual Ribfest; she |

| 1 | | was also a freelance food writer under the name "Clare Obis" | 2 | | for Wednesday Journal in the 1980s and 1990s; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Mariclare Barrett is survived by her sons, | 4 | | Nicholas Hanuman, Quentin Barrett, Paul Wendell, Kevin | 5 | | Michael, Timothy Edward, and Gregory Patrick; her grandson, | 6 | | Yasan; her siblings, Barrie Jean, Terry, Rorie, and Kevin; her | 7 | | niece, Emily; her nephews, Nathan and Jesse; her several | 8 | | grand-nieces and grand-nephews; her many friends and | 9 | | colleagues at Rosalind Franklin and Northwestern Universities | 10 | | and St. Vincent Ferrer and St. Edmund Parishes; and her | 11 | | girlfriends, "The Crazies", with whom she shared a 35-year | 12 | | friendship; therefore, be it
| 13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her | 15 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Mariclare Barrett; and | 16 | | be it further
