| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Betty L. McShane of Waukegan, who passed | 4 | | away on June 1, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Betty McShane was born in Zion to Gladstone and | 6 | | Bertha Riehl on May 29, 1931; she graduated from Zion-Benton | 7 | | Township High School in 1948 and married Ed at the Christian | 8 | | Catholic Church in Zion on June 22, 1951; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Betty McShane worked for the law firm of Finn, | 10 | | Geiger & Rafferty from 1948 to 1972; she was also a | 11 | | professional photographer and enjoyed taking pictures of | 12 | | sunrises and nature; she won many blue ribbons, competitions, | 13 | | and art shows; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Betty McShane attended the First Congregational | 15 | | United Church of Christ of Waukegan for over 40 years and then | 16 | | the Memorial United Methodist Church in Zion for over 20 years, | 17 | | where she also served as treasurer for the Women's Fellowship; | 18 | | she was also an active member and treasurer of the Lake County | 19 | | Art League; and | 20 | | WHEREAS, Betty McShane enjoyed peanut butter and bread, | 21 | | cooking, listening to bird songs, gardens, stargazing, reading |

| 1 | | the bible, and following the news; she was very generous and | 2 | | donated to a number of charitable organizations; she always | 3 | | remembered birthdays and sent handwritten cards to loved ones | 4 | | and friends; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Betty McShane was preceded in death by her | 6 | | parents; her husband of 64 years, Ed; and her in-laws, Edgar | 7 | | and Dorothy McShane; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Betty McShane is survived by her son, Larry | 9 | | McShane; her brother, Roger (Caroline) Riehl; her nieces, | 10 | | Bernadette and Lucinda; her nephew, Roger Jr.; and her cousins; | 11 | | therefore, be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 14 | | Betty L. McShane, and extend our sincere condolences to her | 15 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 16 | | further
| 17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 18 | | presented to the family of Betty McShane as an expression of | 19 | | our deepest sympathy.
