| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Kenneth H. "Ken" Bruner of Waukegan, who | 4 | | passed away on April 20, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ken Bruner was born in Eagle Valley, Minnesota to | 6 | | George and Rose Bruner on April 11, 1925; he served in the | 7 | | United States Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946, | 8 | | earning the rank of private first class; he married Dolores | 9 | | "Lorrie" Ressemann in Richmond, Minnesota on June 14, 1948; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Ken Bruner and his family moved to Waukegan in | 11 | | 1949; he was employed with Abbott Laboratories from 1949 to | 12 | | 1956 and then joined Fansteel in North Chicago in 1956, where | 13 | | he worked as a machinist for 10 years and as a foreman for 18 | 14 | | years; he retired after 28 years of service; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Ken Bruner was an Honorary Life Member of the | 16 | | Knights of Columbus Waukegan Council 731 and an Honorary Life | 17 | | Member of Bishop Quarter Assembly 197; he joined the Knights of | 18 | | Columbus in 1955 and was installed into the Fourth Degree in | 19 | | 1957; he served as a Faithful Navigator, Worthy Marshall, | 20 | | Faithful Comptroller, Grand Knight, and was Commander for | 21 | | Bishop William Quarter Assembly 197; in 2010, he was named | 22 | | Honorary Person for the Fourth Degree; he is also a lifetime |

| 1 | | member of the American Legion of Waukegan; he was a parishioner | 2 | | of St. Dismas Church for the past 37 years; and | 3 | | WHEREAS, In 2015, Ken Bruner was a participant in the Lake | 4 | | County Honor Flight; he was part of the Sixth Annual Lake | 5 | | County Veterans History Project and was interviewed by | 6 | | Assistant State's Attorney, Fred Day; the transcripts of the | 7 | | interview were archived in the Library of Congress, and his | 8 | | story made the front page of the News Sun; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Ken Bruner was preceded in death by his parents; | 10 | | his grandson, Aaron Eaton; three brothers-in-law; a | 11 | | sister-in-law; two nephews; and his sister, Marie Hesse; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Ken Bruner is survived by his wife of almost 70 | 13 | | years, Dolores; his daughter, Cindy Kofler; his son, Daniel | 14 | | (Kathy Ryan) Bruner; his grandchildren, Jessica (Chad) | 15 | | Roberts, Erik (Rachel) Bruner, Jaime Bruner, and Danielle | 16 | | Bruner; his stepgrandchildren; his great-grandchildren, | 17 | | Kyleigh Roberts, Mikayla Bruner, Elijah Brown, Amari | 18 | | Stackhouse, Brooklyn Bruner, and Kennedy Bruner; and his | 19 | | stepgreat-grandchildren; therefore, be it
