| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Graeme K. Carnegie of Oak Park, who | 4 | | passed away on July 20, 2014; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Graeme Carnegie was born on March 15, 1974 in | 6 | | Guildford, England; his parents were Kenneth J. Carnegie and | 7 | | Gillian E. Carnegie; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Graeme Carnegie grew up in Aberdeen, Scotland with | 9 | | his parents; his sister, Rachael; his grandparents, Betty and | 10 | | Nicol Carnegie; and his Auntie Hazel; at the age of 9, he moved | 11 | | with his parents and sister to Oundle, England, where he | 12 | | attended school; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Graeme Carnegie graduated in 1996 from Swansea | 14 | | University in Wales with a degree in biochemistry; he went on | 15 | | to obtain a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Dundee | 16 | | in Scotland in 2002; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, In 2001, Graeme Carnegie moved to Portland, Oregon | 18 | | to pursue his career in medical research; there, he met his | 19 | | wife, Andrea, and they enjoyed and embraced the local culture; | 20 | | in 2009, he accepted an assistant professor position at the | 21 | | University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine; he and |

| 1 | | his wife then moved to Oak Park and welcomed their first | 2 | | daughter, Niamh, in June of 2011, shortly followed by their | 3 | | second daughter, Ava, in October of 2012; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Graeme Carnegie enjoyed surfing, snowboarding, | 5 | | playing soccer and tennis, and playing the drums in local | 6 | | bands; therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | 9 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Graeme K. Carnegie; | 10 | | and be it further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 | | presented to the family of Graeme Carnegie as an expression of | 13 | | our sympathy.
