| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Susan Claudia Siwula Sykes of | 4 | | Lindenhurst, who passed away on April 16, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Susan Sykes was born at the Great Lakes Naval Base | 6 | | Hospital to Harry and Alice (Spellman) Allen on April 17, 1948; | 7 | | she graduated from North Chicago High School in 1966 and | 8 | | attended the College of Lake County, where she took real estate | 9 | | and business classes; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of her career, Susan Sykes owned a | 11 | | card store in Antioch, managed the Popcorn Factory in Lake | 12 | | Forest, worked security at the U.S. Navy Base in Great Lakes, | 13 | | and tended bar at the Arlington Racetrack Trackside (OTB) in | 14 | | Waukegan; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Susan Sykes was affectionately known as "Grandma | 16 | | Sue"; she loved holidays and family gatherings; she enjoyed | 17 | | playing cards, watching movies, cross word puzzles, gambling in | 18 | | Las Vegas, and horseback riding; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Susan Sykes was preceded in death by her parents | 20 | | and her dear brother, Bill; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Susan Sykes is survived by her husband of 20 | 2 | | years, Lee; the father of her children, Larry Siwula; her | 3 | | sister LoAl (Don Cielenski); her brother, Ron; her daughters, | 4 | | Laura (Brendan) Hannigan, Andrea (Tim) Shales, and A.J. (Pat) | 5 | | Cote; her grandchildren, Tyler, Aidan, Riley, Frances, Travis, | 6 | | and Trevor; and her many nieces, nephews, and treasured | 7 | | friends; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | Susan Claudia Siwula Sykes, and extend our sincere condolences | 11 | | to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be | 12 | | it further
