| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Bessie Tsausis of Gurnee, who passed away | 4 | | on March 5, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bessie Tsausis was born in Waukegan to Tony and | 6 | | Helen (Pilafas) Tsausis on December 18, 1933; she attended | 7 | | Central School, where the Waukegan Public Library presently | 8 | | stands, and graduated from Waukegan High School in 1951; she | 9 | | graduated from Lake Forest College in 1955; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Bessie Tsausis worked as a teacher for over 37 | 11 | | years in the Waukegan school district, mostly at Thomas | 12 | | Jefferson Jr. H.S.; she retired in 1994; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Bessie Tsausis spent winters at her condo in | 14 | | Bradenton, Florida; she was active with the League of Women | 15 | | Voters, Friends of Waukegan Library, AFT/IFT, and the Retired | 16 | | Teachers Association; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Bessie Tsausis founded the Waukegan Chapter of the | 18 | | Delta Kappa Gamma Education Society in 1963; she was a founder | 19 | | of Sunday School and was a teacher and supervisor for 39 years; | 20 | | she was honored as "Mother of the Year" in 2005 by the Greek | 21 | | Community; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Bessie Tsausis is survived by her sister, Ethel, | 2 | | and her brother, John; therefore, be it
| 3 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 4 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 5 | | Bessie Tsausis, and extend our sincere condolences to her | 6 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 7 | | further
| 8 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 9 | | presented to the family of Bessie Tsausis as an expression of | 10 | | our deepest sympathy.
