| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Edward J. "Ed" Debowski of East Moline, | 4 | | who passed away on November 9, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ed Debowski was born in Donora, Pennsylvania to | 6 | | Casimir and Mary (Chinay) Debowski on October 31, 1924; he | 7 | | served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 during World War II, | 8 | | where he was a 2nd Class Petty Officer on the U.S.S. Shannon | 9 | | destroyer minelayer; he married Ann Koday in Donora on May 7, | 10 | | 1949; they lived in Donora until they moved to East Moline in | 11 | | 1963, where they raised eight children; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Ed Debowski worked for the U.S. Steel Mill in | 13 | | Donora, Pennsylvania for 11 years; after moving to East Moline, | 14 | | he worked as an electrician at Alcoa for 27 years until his | 15 | | retirement in 1990; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Ed Debowski was a member and on the board of the | 17 | | Catholic Credit Union; he was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe | 18 | | Catholic Church, where he enjoyed singing in the choir for many | 19 | | years; he had a passion for gardening and playing cards; he was | 20 | | known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and | 21 | | compassionate spirit; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Ed Debowski was preceded in death by his parents | 2 | | and his siblings, Joseph Debowski, Violet Zielinski, and Walter | 3 | | Debowski; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Ed Debowski is survived by his wife of 71 years, | 5 | | Ann; his children, Joseph Debowski, Michael (Patty) Debowski, | 6 | | Kathleen Dopler, Marian Ferry, Edward (Lisa) Debowski, Ann | 7 | | Marie (Gary) Schutt, James Debowski, and Carolyn (John) Potter; | 8 | | his 14 grandchildren; his 13 great-grandchildren; his | 9 | | siblings, Helen Pipik and Anthony Debowski; therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 12 | | Edward J. "Ed" Debowski and extend our sincere condolences to | 13 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 14 | | further
