| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of John F. Ruby of Bloomington, who passed | 4 | | away on September 19, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, John Ruby was born to Harold and Margaret "Peg" | 6 | | Ruby in Saint Paul, Minnesota on February 26, 1938; he | 7 | | graduated from Dowling High School in Des Moines, Iowa; after | 8 | | graduating, he joined the U.S. Navy where he served on the USS | 9 | | Baya submarine and trained as an electrical engineer; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, After his time in the Navy, John Ruby got a job | 11 | | with GTE, now Verizon; he worked on upgrading transatlantic | 12 | | communication systems which helped to usher in the new | 13 | | telecommunications age from which we still benefit; he worked | 14 | | at GTE until his retirement in 1990; after retiring, he enjoyed | 15 | | working at the Woodworkers Shop in Bloomington; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, John Ruby attended the Holy Trinity Catholic | 17 | | Church for many years; and | 18 | | WHEREAS, John Ruby enjoyed golf, woodworking, and his | 19 | | involvement in the National Association for Amateur Radio; he | 20 | | enjoyed annual golf weekends with his brothers, where he | 21 | | regularly dominated on the golf course; he was an honorable, |

| 1 | | humble man who will be dearly missed; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, John Ruby was preceded in death by his parents and | 3 | | his four siblings, Mary Ruby, Ann Winkelhake, David Ruby, and | 4 | | Mike Ruby; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, John Ruby is survived by his children, Tracy | 6 | | (John) Humphrey, Aaron (Veronica) Ruby, and John Ruby; his six | 7 | | grandchildren, Reagan, Cole, and Elliot Humphrey and Rykley, | 8 | | Schaler, and Finley Ruby; and his five siblings, Margaret | 9 | | (Dennis) Stinn, Jane Boyce, Tom (Carol) Ruby, Paul (Stephanie) | 10 | | Ruby, and Bernie Ruby; therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| 13 | | John F. Ruby and extend our sincere
condolences to his family, | 14 | | friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it further
| 15 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
