| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of George A. Lechner of McHenry, formerly of | 4 | | Palatine, who passed away on January 20, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, George Lechner was born in Chicago to George A. | 6 | | and Irma (Ille) Lechner on July 15, 1938; he graduated from | 7 | | Maine Township High School East in 1956; he married Carol | 8 | | Baumer in Glenview on April 19, 1958; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, George Lechner first worked as a printer for the | 10 | | General Telephone Directory; he joined the Des Plaines Fire | 11 | | Department in 1968; during his 20-year career, he attained the | 12 | | rank of Deputy Chief; he remained active in the field of fire | 13 | | service and worked in the Arlington Heights Emergency | 14 | | Management Department for seven years; he also worked for the | 15 | | office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal for eight years and | 16 | | was the Y2K Civilian Project Manager for Northwest Community | 17 | | Hospital in Arlington Heights in 1999 and early 2000; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, George Lechner was awarded honorary membership in | 19 | | the Fire Investigators Strike Force; he also served as a | 20 | | Trustee for the Palatine Rural Fire Protection District and was | 21 | | a member of the Illinois Professional Firefighters | 22 | | Association; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, George Lechner was a member of and deacon at | 2 | | Lakeland Baptist Church in Lake Villa; he raised pigeons from | 3 | | the time he was seven years old and was a lifetime member of | 4 | | the American Giant Homer Association; in addition to holding | 5 | | many positions in that club, he was also recognized as a | 6 | | "Master Breeder"; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, George Lechner was preceded in death by his | 8 | | parents; and his grandson, Michael Shane Lechner; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, George Lechner is survived by his wife of 59 | 10 | | years, Carol; his children, Pamela Lechner, Michael (Suzan) | 11 | | Lechner, and Dawn (Timothy) Andrlik; his grandchildren, | 12 | | Stephanie (Anthony) Nelson, Ashley (Kevin) Jensen, and Payton | 13 | | Andrlik; his great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Travis Nelson, | 14 | | and Andrew, Chloe, Elana, and Joy Jensen; his brother, Donald | 15 | | (Joan) Lechner; and his nephews, Jeffrey, Andrew (Michele), | 16 | | Gary (Laura) Lechner and their families; therefore, be it
| 17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 18 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 19 | | George A. Lechner and extend our sincere condolences to his | 20 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 21 | | further
