| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Murel Peterson of Moline, who passed away | 4 | | on July 30, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Murel Peterson was born in Pine, Missouri to Ray | 6 | | and Virgie (Lewis) Peterson on September 26, 1928; he married | 7 | | Dorothy Marie Ferguson in Rock Island on February 17, 1953, and | 8 | | she preceded him in death on August 7, 1998; he joined the U.S. | 9 | | Army on October 12, 1953, and he served in Korea; he joined the | 10 | | U.S. National Guard in August of 1954, and he earned the rank | 11 | | of Sergeant 1st Class before retiring in 1972; he married | 12 | | Dorothy Jean Martin on September 23, 2000, and she preceded him | 13 | | in death on June 10, 2019; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Murel Peterson began working at John Deere Plow | 15 | | Planter on December 17, 1947; he retired on September 30, 1987; | 16 | | and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Murel Peterson was committed to his faith and was | 18 | | a member of the Victory Baptist Church in East Moline for over | 19 | | 40 years; he was known for doing everything he could to attend | 20 | | family sporting events; he will be remembered as a loving | 21 | | husband, father, and grandfather; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Murel Peterson was preceded in death by his | 2 | | parents; his wives; his sisters, Dorene Peterson and Nora | 3 | | Peterson; and his brother, Doris Peterson; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Murel Peterson is survived by his children, Donna | 5 | | Peterson (Connie McCumsey) and M. Keith (Angie) Peterson; his | 6 | | grandchildren, Kyle Peterson, Holly Peterson, and Zachary | 7 | | Peterson; and his sister, Irene Peterson; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | Murel Peterson and extend our sincere condolences to his | 11 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 12 | | further
