| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Floyd C. Mitton of Moline, who passed | 4 | | away on July 28, 2022; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Floyd Mitton was born in Carbon Cliff to Albert | 6 | | and Alice (Carey) Mitton on July 15, 1930; he graduated from | 7 | | United Township High School in 1949 and completed a five-year | 8 | | apprenticeship at John Deere as a metal pattern maker; he | 9 | | married Carol Riceman in 1954 and served in the U.S. Army from | 10 | | 1954 to 1956 as a pattern maker at Fort Belvoir; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Floyd Mitton returned to John Deere upon his | 12 | | honorable discharge; he retired after 32 years, last working | 13 | | at Plow and Planter as a pattern shop supervisor, which was | 14 | | followed by a second career spanning 30 years as a realtor; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Floyd Mitton was affectionately called "Uncle" or | 16 | | "Elmer"; he enjoyed being an East Moline-Silvis Rotary member | 17 | | and was honored to be a Paul Harris Fellow; he served many | 18 | | years as a volunteer fire fighter for the Carbon Cliff Fire | 19 | | Department; he was on numerous credit union boards for 50 | 20 | | years and on various councils at Faith Lutheran Church over | 21 | | his 60 years of membership; he enjoyed being with people, | 22 | | talking, playing cards, bowling, and golfing; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Floyd Mitton was preceded in death by his son, | 2 | | Doug; his parents; four brothers; and two sisters; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Floyd Mitton is survived by his wife, Carol, her | 4 | | siblings and their spouses, and many nieces and nephews; | 5 | | therefore, be it
| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 7 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 8 | | Floyd C. Mitton and extend our sincere condolences to his | 9 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 10 | | further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 | | presented to the family of Floyd Mitton as an expression of our | 13 | | deepest sympathy.
