| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Thomas Henry "Tom" Ritter of Lake Forest, | 4 | | who passed away on January 23, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Tom Ritter was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on | 6 | | January 9, 1945; he was raised in Cleveland Heights, Ohio; he | 7 | | received his bachelor's degree from Northwestern University in | 8 | | 1967; in 1969, he received his Master of Business | 9 | | Administration from the Quinlan School of Business at Loyola | 10 | | University of Chicago; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Tom Ritter traded commodities at Mid American | 12 | | Commodity Exchange and then at the Chicago Board of Trade for | 13 | | almost 50 years; he was a professional mentor to many and | 14 | | taught the business of commodity trading to clerks and friends; | 15 | | and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Tom Ritter was a president and a longtime board | 17 | | member of the Lake Forest High School Booster Club; he was very | 18 | | proud of being the first parent to receive a Super Scout Award; | 19 | | he served as a deacon at Lake Forest First Presbyterian Church; | 20 | | he was on the Board of Directors of PADS Lake County, IL for a | 21 | | decade and also coached a variety of youth sports; he was sober | 22 | | through Alcoholics Anonymous for 37 years; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Tom Ritter was preceded in death by his parents | 2 | | and his brother, John; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Tom Ritter is survived by his wife of 46 years, | 4 | | Mary; his children, Todd (Kate Bandler), Andrew (Katie Mahar), | 5 | | Colin (Jillian Sheppard), and Kate (Abby Peters); his | 6 | | grandchildren, Grace, Ruby, Arlo, Adeline, Nathaniel, | 7 | | Coraline, and Jesse, along with an eighth grandchild due in | 8 | | May; his twin brother, Tim; his younger brother, Jeff (Kathy); | 9 | | and his many nieces, nephews, and in-laws; therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 12 | | Thomas Henry "Tom" Ritter and extend our sincere condolences to | 13 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 14 | | further
