| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Barbara
McLachlan of Oak Park, who passed | 4 | | away on May 6, 2017, at the age of 81; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Barbara McLachlan was born on October 24, 1935 and | 6 | | raised in the City of Chicago; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Barbara McLachlan graduated from Alverno College | 8 | | in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with a
degree in education; she was a | 9 | | grade school teacher for many years before starting a career as | 10 | | a
paralegal in the 1980s, but later returned to teaching before | 11 | | her retirement; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Barbara McLachlan served as past co-president and | 13 | | board member of the League of
Women Voters of Oak Park; and | 14 | | WHEREAS, Barbara McLachlan was a voracious reader and was a | 15 | | member of several book
clubs and discussion groups; and | 16 | | WHEREAS, Barbara McLachlan was an avid bridge player and | 17 | | participated in a number of groups
throughout Oak Park over the | 18 | | past 40 years; and | 19 | | WHEREAS, Barbara McLachlan was known by family and friends |

| 1 | | to inspire others with her
kindness, intellect, vibrant spirit, | 2 | | determination, and sense of humor; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Barbara McLachlan was the much-loved wife of the | 4 | | late Duane McLachlan, and the
cherished mother of daughter | 5 | | Maureen McLachlan, with whom she enjoyed a special and
enduring | 6 | | relationship; therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 9 | | Barbara McLachlan, and extend our sincere condolences to her | 10 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 11 | | further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of Barbara
McLachlan as an expression | 14 | | of our deepest sympathy.
