| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Jan Christensen of East Moline, who | 4 | | passed away on May 17, 2024; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Jan Christensen was born to Janice and Vern | 6 | | Christensen in Rock Island on April 9, 1948; he graduated from | 7 | | Moline High School in 1966; he attended Blackhawk College | 8 | | before being drafted to served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam; he | 9 | | graduated with a degree in psychology from St. Ambrose | 10 | | College; he married Diane Eldred on August 2, 1969; and | 11 | | WHEREAS, During high school, Jan Christensen worked at his | 12 | | grandfather's business the former Knox Mortuary; as an adult, | 13 | | he worked at Farmall, and then he and a partner purchased the | 14 | | Fol-da-tank Company from his father-in-law, Giles Eldred; and | 15 | | WHEREAS, Jan Christensen served on the vestry of Trinity | 16 | | Episcopal Church as a member and as senior warden; he served on | 17 | | the Friendship Manor Board and was a member of the Rock Island | 18 | | Rotary Club for many years; and | 19 | | WHEREAS, Jan Christensen is survived by his wife of 54 | 20 | | years, Diane; his children, Chad (Steph) Christensen and Beth | 21 | | (David) Carlin; his grandchildren, Vanessa Christensen, Andrew |
