| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Larry Gene Hazen of Godfrey, who passed | 4 | | away on October 2, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Larry Hazen was born in Alton to Albert and | 6 | | Carmella (Panapinto) Hazen on December 21, 1945; he served in | 7 | | the United States Air Force and married Jeanette Gobble in | 8 | | Alton on August 16, 1974; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Larry Hazen retired from Roberts Ford in 2005 | 10 | | after 29 years as a mechanic and service writer; he was a | 11 | | member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary for over 10 | 12 | | years and a volunteer fireman for Godfrey for 13 years; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Larry Hazen was a long-standing member of the | 14 | | Alton Motor Boat Club, where he served as treasurer for several | 15 | | years; he was active with the MS 150 Bike Ride and rode with | 16 | | the Piasa Peddlers Group, which raised over $20,000; he | 17 | | volunteered at Rolling Hills Golf Course for many years, loved | 18 | | to travel with his grandchildren, and enjoyed his winter months | 19 | | in Arizona; he was a member St. Ambrose Catholic Church in | 20 | | Godfrey; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Larry Hazen was preceded in death by his parents |

| 1 | | and an infant brother, Albert Hazen Jr.; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Larry Hazen is survived by his wife, Jeanette; his | 3 | | daughter, Shannon (Jeff) Lauritzen; his grandchildren, | 4 | | Karoline and Kristine Lauritzen; his brother, Harry (Susy) | 5 | | Hazen; his niece, Yvonne (Cliff) Rushton; and his nephew, | 6 | | Albert (Cindy) Hazen; therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 9 | | Larry Gene Hazen, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 10 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 11 | | further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of Larry Hazen as an expression of our | 14 | | deepest sympathy.
