| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 |
| learn of the death of Marian L. Klein of Bethalto, who passed | 4 |
| away on July 1, 2007; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Marian L. Klein was born on November 12, 1912, the | 6 |
| daughter of James M. and Julia (Hentz) Broderick; she married | 7 |
| Robert "Bob" Klein on August 3, 1939, in Edwardsville; and
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Marian Klein and her husband owned and operated | 9 |
| Klein's Drug Store for several years until retiring in 1998; | 10 |
| she was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in | 11 |
| Bethalto, and she was also a member of Legion of Mary, past | 12 |
| regent of the Daughters of Isabella, first president of the | 13 |
| Bethalto Women's Club, member of the Rotary Anns, and served as | 14 |
| Deputy Clerk of the Madison County Clerk's Office, issuing many | 15 |
| marriage licenses from her home; and
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, Marian Klein was an election judge and staunch | 17 |
| Democrat; she was a graduate of Marquette High School in Alton, | 18 |
| and took business classes at Ursuline Convent; and
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, Marian Klein was preceded in death by her husband, | 20 |
| Robert; her parents; and her three brothers, Marshall, Mike, | 21 |
| and Jack Broderick; and

| WHEREAS,
Marian Klein is survived by her daughters and | 2 |
| sons-in-law, MaryAnn and Gene Magac, and Martha and Dan Smith; | 3 |
| her grandchildren, Nicholas Smith and his wife, Alyssa, and | 4 |
| Corey Smith; her sister and brother-in-law, Jo Ann and Quinten | 5 |
| Eihausen; her sister-in-law, Georgia Broderick; and several | 6 |
| nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| 7 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL | 8 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 9 |
| her family and friends, the passing of Marian L. Klein; and be | 10 |
| it further
| 11 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 |
| presented to the family of Marian L. Klein as a symbol of our | 13 |
| sympathy.
