| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Paul W. Fromer of Downers Grove, who | 4 | | passed away on December 8, 2012; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Paul Fromer was born and raised in Elmira, New | 6 | | York; after earning his undergraduate degree at Syracuse | 7 | | University, he went on to pursue graduate studies in chemistry | 8 | | at the California Institute of Technology, but soon found | 9 | | himself called to seminary; he enrolled at the nearby Fuller | 10 | | Theological Seminary, where he eventually earned a master's | 11 | | degree; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, During college, Paul Fromer became involved with | 13 | | the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship; after leaving Fuller in | 14 | | 1955, he worked as an InterVarsity staff worker on campuses in | 15 | | California, Arizona, and Nevada; in 1960, he moved to the | 16 | | Chicago area to become the editor of HIS magazine, a Christian | 17 | | publication for college students; in 1971, he left the magazine | 18 | | and joined Wheaton College as an English professor the | 19 | | following year; he also served as the faculty adviser to | 20 | | Wheaton's student newspaper, the Wheaton Record; after | 21 | | retiring from Wheaton in 1998, Mr. Fromer continued to research | 22 | | and write and led Bible studies; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Paul Fromer worked as a deputy editor at | 2 | | Christianity Today magazine; he also edited several of | 3 | | evangelist Billy Graham's books; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Paul Fromer is survived by his wife of 57 years, | 5 | | Margaret; his sons, Joel and David; his daughter, Ruth Fox; and | 6 | | his 3 grandchildren; therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 9 | | his family and friends, the passing of Paul W. Fromer; and be | 10 | | it further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 | | presented to the family of Paul Fromer as an expression of our | 13 | | sympathy.
