| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Ralph Evan Johnson of Jacksonville, | 4 | | who passed away on April 6, 2023; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ralph Johnson was born in Jacksonville to Everett | 6 | | and Margaret Murphy Johnson on September 29, 1932; he | 7 | | graduated from Routt Catholic High School in 1950; he served | 8 | | in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in | 9 | | Austria; he married Agnes Jackson at Our Saviour
Catholic | 10 | | Church on January 8, 1955; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Ralph Johnson farmed with his sons; he was a | 12 | | member of the local farm bureau and was named Outstanding | 13 | | Young Farmer by the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Ralph Johnson served his community in many | 15 | | capacities, including as president of the Holy Name Society at | 16 | | Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Franklin; he was a member of | 17 | | the Franklin Lions Club since 1957, serving as district | 18 | | cabinet secretary from 1964 to 1965, district governor, and | 19 | | chairman of the Council Governors from 1979 to 1980 for the | 20 | | Lions of Illinois; he was recognized by the Lions for 60 years | 21 | | of perfect attendance; he was also a member of the Lions of | 22 | | Illinois Foundation Board; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Ralph Johnson was a member of the Franklin School | 2 | | Board and Franklin American Legion Post 1089 for 50 years, | 3 | | serving as commissioner for seven years; he was a charter | 4 | | member of the Morgan County Sheriff's Office Merit Commission | 5 | | and was a precinct committeeman for Pisgah; and | 6 | | WHEREAS, Ralph Johnson served with the Combined Veterans | 7 | | Ceremonial Team for 21 years and was commander for 15 years; he | 8 | | was a member of Our Saviour Catholic Church and a former member | 9 | | of Sacred Heart Church; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Ralph Johnson was preceded in death by his | 11 | | siblings, Helen Geimer, James Johnson, Margaret Burnett, Mary | 12 | | Fleischli, Harold Johnson, and Donald Johnson; his son, Ralph | 13 | | Evan Johnson Jr.; and his grandson, Samuel Evan Massalone; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Ralph Johnson is survived by his wife, Agnes; his | 15 | | children, Nancy (Steve) Decker, Everett (LeAnn) Johnson, | 16 | | Patricia (Mike) Elliott, Darryl (Stacy) Johnson, Karen (Mike) | 17 | | Roberts, Rebecca (Mark) Johnson-Dyer, and Christopher (Mindi) | 18 | | Johnson; his grandchildren, Jeremy (Bethany) Decker, Valerie | 19 | | (Danny) Krohe, Chad (Jessi) Johnson, Jessica Johnson, Erica | 20 | | Klendworth, Justin (Karrie) Johnson, Ashley (Andy) DeGroot, | 21 | | Jenna Johnson, Ryan (Katrina) Elliott, Alaina Elliott, Alex | 22 | | Johnson, Brandon (Autumn) Johnson, Mitchell Shade, Evan Shade, |
