SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Marvin Oak of Taylor Ridge, who passed
4away on September 15, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marvin Oak was born to Kenneth and Laura
6(Mueller) Oak on the family farm in Taylor Ridge on July 28,
71929; he graduated from Reynolds High School and joined the
8U.S. Army during the Korean War; after returning from service,
9he married June Westphal at Edgington Presbyterian Church on
10September 23, 1956; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Marvin Oak farmed in the Taylor Ridge area his
12entire adult life; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Marvin Oak enjoyed gardening and had a love of
14making wine, which earned him several awards at the Rock
15Island County Fair; he also loved to hunt morel mushrooms,
16especially the big yellows; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Marvin Oak was preceded in death by his wife; his
18parents, Kenneth and Laura; his son, Gregory A. Oak; and his
19sister, Eloise Stuart; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Marvin Oak is survived by his son, David Oak; his

1brother, Marion (Dorothy) Oak; and his nieces and nephews,
2Naomi (Randy) Duvendack, Becky (Dennis) Keithley, Joel (Jill)
3Stuart, Kevin (Cindy) Oak, and Sheri (Anders) Holgersson;
4therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Marvin Oak and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
8friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Marvin Oak as an expression of our
11deepest sympathy.
