SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Marvin Oak of Taylor Ridge, who passed away on September 15, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Marvin Oak was born to Kenneth and Laura (Mueller) Oak on the family farm in Taylor Ridge on July 28, 1929; he graduated from Reynolds High School and joined the U.S. Army during the Korean War; after returning from service, he married June Westphal at Edgington Presbyterian Church on September 23, 1956; and

WHEREAS, Marvin Oak farmed in the Taylor Ridge area his entire adult life; and

WHEREAS, Marvin Oak enjoyed gardening and had a love of making wine, which earned him several awards at the Rock Island County Fair; he also loved to hunt morel mushrooms, especially the big yellows; and

WHEREAS, Marvin Oak was preceded in death by his wife; his parents, Kenneth and Laura; his son, Gregory A. Oak; and his sister, Eloise Stuart; and

WHEREAS, Marvin Oak is survived by his son, David Oak; his brother, Marion (Dorothy) Oak; and his nieces and nephews, Naomi (Randy) Duvendack, Becky (Dennis) Keithley, Joel (Jill) Stuart, Kevin (Cindy) Oak, and Sheri (Anders) Holgersson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Marvin Oak and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marvin Oak as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
