SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mary Ellen "Babe" Becherer of Granite City, who passed away on November 26, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Becherer was born to Phillip H. and Edna M. (Willis) Sheridan in Granite City on December 15, 1932; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Becherer was a homemaker and devoted mother who enjoyed her days of taking care of her family and putting their needs above her own; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Becherer was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and had attended Holy Family Catholic Church in Granite City; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Becherer was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Henry Becherer Sr.; her brothers, Monsignor Paul W. Sheridan and Phillip H. Sheridan Jr.; and her sisters, Dolores Sheridan and Margaret Rehagen; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Becherer is survived by her children, Paul (Gina) Becherer, Mary Kay (Bill) Denning, Richard (Denise) Becherer, Katie (Tom) Bakke, John (Patti) Becherer, and Sue (Chris) Glass; her 12 grandchildren; her two great-grandchildren; and her many other close family members and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Mary Ellen Becherer and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mary Ellen Becherer as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
