SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Charles J. Roman Jr. of Moline, who passed away on October 30, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Charles Roman was born to Charles J. and Romanie (DeDecker) Roman Sr. in Moline on July 29, 1929; he married Joan E. Swain at Sacred Heart Church in Moline on April 25, 1951; he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War; and

WHEREAS, Charles Roman retired from American Air Filter in 1985; and

WHEREAS, Charles Roman enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling, bingo, and playing cards; he was also an avid softball player; and

WHEREAS, Charles Roman was preceded in death by his son, Rick; his sisters, Dorothy Griffin and Irene Jones; and his brother, Dan Roman; and

WHEREAS, Charles Roman is survived by his wife of 70 years, Joan; his children, Brenda Roman (Judy Hutchinson), Joseph (Ruth Ann) Roman, Diane (Joe) Vallela, Mary Sue Bennett, Lisa (Ed) Cunningham, and Laura (Randy) Damewood; his 17 grandchildren; his 17 great-grandchildren; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Charles J. Roman Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Charles Roman as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
