SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Reverend George T. Wooden of Alton,
4who passed away on September 24, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Reverend George Wooden was born to Elbie and
6Nancy (Cox) Wooden in Wood River on April 24, 1928; he served
7in the U.S. Navy; he married Wilma Koelling in Wood River on
8February 7, 1948, and she passed away in 2013; he married Vonda
9McGee in Alton on April 19, 2015; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Reverend George Wooden served as a pastor with
11the Pentecostal church for over 41 years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Reverend George Wooden was preceded in death by
13his parents; his first wife; his stepdaughter, Lavon Rea; his
14three brothers, Jack Wooden, Edwin Wooden, and Luther Wooden;
15and his four sisters, Beatrice Hicks, Ann Hicks, Opal Freeman,
16and Barbara Pettit; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Reverend George Wooden is survived by his sons,
18Terry Wooden, Kevin (Patricia) Wooden, Ron Wooden, and Dave
19(Sue) Wooden; his daughters, Regina (Paul) Newby and Chana
20Wooden; his stepchildren, John (Jayne) Simmons, Bill (Carolyn)
21Simmons, Sandy Neal, Sherry Simmons, and Valerie (Gary) Payne;

1his nine grandchildren; his seven great-grandchildren; his
2brother, Bob Wooden; and his sister, Shirley Schofield;
3therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Reverend George T. Wooden and extend our sincere condolences
7to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
8it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Reverend George Wooden as an
11expression of our deepest sympathy.
