| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the loss of Otis "Otie" Glen Ruff of rural | 4 | | Streator, who passed away on January 25, 2021; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Otie Ruff was born to Glenn and Bernice (Tinges) | 6 | | Ruff in rural Fairbury on October 20, 1933; he attended the | 7 | | Cornell Grade School and High School and graduated from Long | 8 | | Point High School in 1951; he served in the U.S. Army during | 9 | | the Korean Conflict; he married Marian Vissering on November | 10 | | 29, 1996; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Otie Ruff farmed all his life in the Long Point | 12 | | area and on the Wisconsin state line; he, along with his | 13 | | brothers, started Long Point Grain elevator in 1957; later | 14 | | known as Ruff Brothers Grain, the business now serves 15 | 15 | | central Illinois communities; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Otie Ruff was a member of the Long Point United | 17 | | Methodist Church and the Long Point American Legion; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Otie Ruff had a passion for horses; the Ruff | 19 | | Riders pony and draft horse hitches were staples at many | 20 | | central Illinois horse shows and parades; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Otie Russ was preceded in death by his parents | 2 | | and his brother, Dean Ruff; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Otie Ruff is survived by his wife; his daughters, | 4 | | Cindy (Kevin) Bertsche, Mary Beth (Virl) Voights, and Barbara | 5 | | Ruff; his son, Mark Ruff; his grandchildren, Tim (Mandy) | 6 | | Hogan, Abby (Bick) Hall, Jared (Joelle) Bertsche, Grace and | 7 | | Glen Ruff, and Kyle Voights; his five great-grandchildren; his | 8 | | brothers, Jerry (Janice) Ruff and Keith (JoAnn) Ruff; his | 9 | | sisters-in-law, Arlene (John) Martin and Judy (Jeff) Wahls; | 10 | | and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 13 | | Otis "Otie" Glen Ruff and extend our sincere condolences to | 14 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 15 | | further
