SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mary "Lorraine" Bromley of Rock Island, who passed away on December 13, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Lorraine Bromley was born to Richard J. and Christina R. Van Hoorebeck in Rock Island on February 25, 1921; she graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1939; she proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a WAVE during World War II; she married John L. Bromley in Long Beach, California on August 18, 1945; and

WHEREAS, Lorraine Bromley worked at the Rock Island Arsenal prior to entering the service; she later worked as a bookkeeper for private individuals; and

WHEREAS, Lorraine Bromley was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rock Island; she was a blood donor for many years and a member of the Trinity Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary and Knights of Columbus Auxiliary; and

WHEREAS, Lorraine Bromley was preceded in death by her husband; her son, John M. Bromley; her sister, Rosedith Hawkins; and her brothers, Richard Van Hoorebeke and Francis Van Hoorebeck; and

WHEREAS, Lorraine Bromley is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Lawrence Clemens, Elizabeth Berridge and Jim Loveless, and Kate Bromley; her daughter-in-law, Colleen Wiemerslage-Bromley; her granddaughter, Dr. Clara Berridge (Elliot Stevens); and her nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Mary "Lorraine" Bromley and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lorraine Bromley as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
