| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Richard Wayne "Rick" Glass of | 4 | | Bloomington, who passed away on December 7, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Rick Glass was born in Akron, Ohio to Robert and | 6 | | Marilyn (Basford) Glass on February 1, 1948; he graduated from | 7 | | Joliet West in 1966 and the University of Cincinnati in 1971; | 8 | | he earned his master's degree in Hospital and Healthcare | 9 | | Administration from Xavier University in 1978; he married | 10 | | Barbara on October 30 1982; together, they raised their three | 11 | | children in Peoria and later in Bloomington-Normal; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Rick Glass had a distinguished career serving his | 13 | | community; he was vice president of Proctor Hospital in Peoria | 14 | | for 15 years; he then served as CEO of Marcfirst, an agency | 15 | | supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in | 16 | | Bloomington-Normal, until he retired in 2013; he was known as | 17 | | a strong, quiet leader; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Rick Glass was a member of the Unitarian | 19 | | Universalist Church; alongside his wife, he spent his | 20 | | retirement years hiking and camping across the country, and he | 21 | | reached his 50th state in 2018; he enjoyed adventures further | 22 | | afield, traveling to England, Italy, China, South Africa, |

| 1 | | Japan, and Portugal; he spent eight beautiful summers at his | 2 | | log cabin in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin; he enjoyed researching | 3 | | genealogy, collecting art and tribal rugs, sharing movie | 4 | | recommendations, touring historic sites and botanical gardens, | 5 | | and biking through Door County in Wisconsin; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Rick Glass was known for his calming presence, | 7 | | his cheeky sense of humor, and his laugh; he was a great | 8 | | joke-teller, campfire-builder, and aficionado of dark beer; he | 9 | | will be remembered as a loving human being with an endless | 10 | | supply of kindness and compassion that he shared freely with | 11 | | his friends and family; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Rick Glass was preceded in death by his parents; | 13 | | his stepfather, Peter Swick; his stepmother, Shirley Glass; | 14 | | and his stepbrother, Don Barnett; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Rick Glass is survived by his wife, Barbara | 16 | | Campbell; his son, Carl (Parrish) Glass; his daughters, Sarah | 17 | | Glass (Joe Chidley) and Jessica Glass; his siblings, Linda | 18 | | (Fred) Storch, Gail (Jim) Bartz, James Swick, and Peggy (R.G.) | 19 | | Bender; his stepbrothers, John Barnett and Mike Barnett; and | 20 | | his many cousins, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it
