HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to recognize Nancy Tenner on her 50 years
4of professional and volunteer work in the field of early
5childhood education and social services; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Inspired by the late Senator Robert Kennedy's
7commitment to public service and assisting the less fortunate,
8Nancy Tenner has dedicated her time and energy to helping
9children and vulnerable communities; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Early in her career, Nancy Tenner volunteered to
11tutor children at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Library in
12Chicago and the St. Charles School and Home for Boys; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Professionally, Nancy Tenner taught and cared for
14young children at a number of facilities, including the
15Central Day Care in Rockford, the New Morning Co-Op Early
16Education Program in DeKalb, the Peter Pan Preschool and Day
17Care in Naperville, and the Naperville YMCA; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Throughout her life, Nancy Tenner has volunteered
19to help senior citizens, including serving as a candy striper
20and assisting health care providers and patients in La Grange,
21at the Riverwalk Adult Day Services in Naperville, and in the

1community by lending individual seniors a helping hand; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Nancy Tenner has volunteered with numerous
3service organizations, including Mother Sunshine in DeKalb;
4she has participated in social justice initiatives of the
5DuPage Unitarian Universalist Church and supported
6organizations, including Amnesty International, the
7International Rescue Committee, and Spay Illinois, which works
8to end pet homelessness; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we recognize Nancy Tenner on her 50 years of professional and
12volunteer work in the field of early childhood education and
13social services, and we extend our deepest gratitude and
14appreciation for her service to children and vulnerable
15communities throughout the State of Illinois; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to Nancy Tenner as a symbol of our respect and
19esteem.
