SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
70 ILCS 810/22  from Ch. 96 1/2, par. 6425

    Amends the Cook County Forest Preserve District Act. Provides that all general taxes levied by the board of any forest preserve district shall be levied by general categories annually (currently, by March 28 annually) for all fiscal years in the same manner as taxes are levied for city and village purposes. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Cook County Forest Preserve District Act is
5amended by changing Section 22 as follows:
 
6    (70 ILCS 810/22)  (from Ch. 96 1/2, par. 6425)
7    Sec. 22. All general taxes levied by the board of any
8forest preserve district shall be levied by general categories
9by March 28 annually for all fiscal years in the same manner as
10taxes are levied for city and village purposes.
11    The board may in each fiscal year levy taxes for general
12corporate purposes at a rate not exceeding .06% of the value of
13the taxable property therein, as equalized or assessed by the
14Department of Revenue. In addition, the board may levy taxes
15for constructing, restoring, reconditioning and reconstructing
16improvements and for the development of the forests and lands
17of such district, the amount of which tax each fiscal year
18shall be extended at a rate not in excess of .021% of the value
19of the taxable property therein.
20    All such taxes and rates are exclusive of the taxes
21required for the payment of the principal of and interest on
22bonds, and exclusive of taxes levied for employees' annuity
23and benefit purposes.

2    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
