AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 156

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 156 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing
5Sections 10-20.63 and 34-18.56 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/10-20.63)
7    Sec. 10-20.63. Availability of feminine hygiene products.
8    (a) The General Assembly finds the following:
9        (1) Feminine hygiene products are a health care
10    necessity and not an item that can be foregone or
11    substituted easily.
12        (2) Access to feminine hygiene products is a serious
13    and ongoing need in this State.
14        (3) When students do not have access to affordable
15    feminine hygiene products, they may miss multiple days of
16    school every month.

1        (4) When students have access to quality feminine
2    hygiene products, they are able to continue with their
3    daily lives with minimal interruption.
4    (b) In this Section:
5    "Feminine hygiene products" means tampons, and sanitary
6napkins, and feminine wipes for use in connection with the
7menstrual cycle.
8    "School building" means any facility (i) that is owned or
9leased by a school district or over which the school board has
10care, custody, and control and (ii) in which there is a public
11school serving students in grades 6 through 12.
12    (c) A school district shall make feminine hygiene products
13available, at no cost to students, in the bathrooms of school
14buildings.

17    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
