SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Marion Z. Thompson Jr. of Moline, who passed away on September 14, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Marion Thompson was born in Ada, Oklahoma to Marion Sr. and Eva Lee (Davis) Thompson on September 26, 1931; he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and married Helen Rogiers in Moline on April 16, 1955; he received his bachelor's degree from Augustana College and his Ph.D. from the University of Iowa; and

WHEREAS, Marion Thompson worked at the Rock Island Arsenal for 37 years; and

WHEREAS, Marion Thompson was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Moline; and

WHEREAS, Marion Thompson is survived by his wife, Helen; his children, Elizabeth, Thomas (Leslie), and James (Molly) Thompson; and his grandchildren, Christopher, Ben, Tony, Margaret, Jack, Gavin, Sara, and Caroline; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Marion Z. Thompson Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marion Thompson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
