| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Anne H. Evans of Des Plaines, who passed | 4 | | away on April 7, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Anne Evans was born in Long Beach, California on | 6 | | May 7, 1926; she attended Northwestern University, where she | 7 | | majored in chemistry and math, graduating Phi Beta Kappa in | 8 | | 1947; she married Thomas Martin Evans that same year; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Anne Evans joined the Maine Township Community | 10 | | Concert Association when it started in Des Plaines and served | 11 | | as its president for a time; she joined the Des Plaines Arts | 12 | | Council as a representative from the Northwest Symphony | 13 | | Orchestra Board and joined efforts to restore the Des Plaines | 14 | | Theater as a performing arts center; she was a member of the | 15 | | Northwest Suburban branch of the American Association of | 16 | | University Women (AAUW) and served on the board of Church Women | 17 | | United of Des Plaines; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Anne Evans began her involvement with local and | 19 | | State government as a founding member of the League of Women | 20 | | Voters (LWV) in Des Plaines; she was elected as a delegate to | 21 | | the Illinois Constitutional Convention on a non-partisan | 22 | | ballot in 1969; she was later elected to the Maine Township |

| 1 | | High School board, where she served for ten years, including as | 2 | | president; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Anne Evans was preceded in death by her husband, | 4 | | Thomas; her brother William Hincke; and her son-in-law, Bryan | 5 | | Newkirk; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Anne Evans is survived by her children, Kate | 7 | | Newkirk, Nancy (Vince) Johnsen, Betty Lou (Neal) Schindler, and | 8 | | James (Stacee) Evans; her grandchildren, Jenai, John, Susanna, | 9 | | Tom, Tobin, Steve, Brian, Brent, and Bruce; her sisters-in-law, | 10 | | Nancy (the late Arvid) Carlson and Lucy Hincke; and her five | 11 | | nieces and nephews and their families; therefore, be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 14 | | Anne H. Evans and extend our sincere condolences to her family, | 15 | | friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 17 | | presented to the family of Anne Evans as an expression of our | 18 | | deepest sympathy.
