| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Captain Jake Ringering of Godfrey, who | 4 | | passed away in the line of duty on March 5, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Captain Ringering was born in Alton on December | 6 | | 14, 1981; he was the son of Robin (Ballard) Disney and her | 7 | | husband, Reverend Stephen Disney, and Larry Ringering and his | 8 | | wife, Jan; he graduated from East Alton Wood River High School | 9 | | in 2000; he earned an associate's degree in fire science from | 10 | | Lewis & Clark Community College in 2004; he also earned his | 11 | | Emergency Medical Technician License; he married Allison Budde | 12 | | at St. Mary's Catholic Church on January 3, 2009; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Captain Ringering began his career as a paid, | 14 | | on-call firefighter in East Alton on February 20, 2001; he was | 15 | | hired as a career firefighter in East Alton on December 20, | 16 | | 2005; on August 5, 2010, he was hired as a career firefighter | 17 | | at Godfrey Fire Protection District, where he attained the rank | 18 | | of lieutenant on March 27, 2013 and Captain on May 1, 2014; he | 19 | | also served as a lead instructor for the department, the | 20 | | technical rescue officer, and the respiratory protection | 21 | | officer; and
| 22 | | WHEREAS, Captain Ringering earned several certifications |

| 1 | | from the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal, including | 2 | | Firefighter II, Firefighter III, Basic Operations Firefighter, | 3 | | Advanced Technician Firefighter, Fire Officer I, Hazardous | 4 | | Materials Awareness, Technical Rescue Awareness, Fire Service | 5 | | Vehicle Operator, Fire Apparatus Engineer, Vehicle and | 6 | | Machinery Operations, Rescue Specialist-Confined Space, | 7 | | Hazardous Materials First Responder Operations, Rope | 8 | | Operations, Fire Service Instructor I, Fire Service Instructor | 9 | | II, Fire Investigator, and Rescue Specialist-Vertical II/High | 10 | | Angle; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Captain Ringering was dedicated to public | 12 | | service; a leader who always wanted to help others, he served | 13 | | as president of the Godfrey Firefighters Local 1692 and taught | 14 | | Fire Science at Lewis & Clark Community College; he was also a | 15 | | trainer and instructor through Max Fire Training; he was a | 16 | | member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton; he was a devoted | 17 | | husband and father and always put his family first; he was a | 18 | | loving son, brother, and son-in-law who never met a stranger; | 19 | | and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Captain Ringering was preceded in death by his | 21 | | grandparents, Lucien and Marjorie Ringering and Captain Ed | 22 | | Ballard; and
| 23 | | WHEREAS, Captain Ringering is survived by his parents; his |

| 1 | | wife, Allison; his children, Nora Marie Ringering, Elaina Lynn | 2 | | Ringering, and Logan Jacob Ringering; his brother, Chris | 3 | | (Richel) Stratton; his sister, Julie (Jedediah) Downs; his | 4 | | grandmother, Thelma Ballard; his wife's parents, Robert and | 5 | | Susan Budde; his sister-in-law, Andrea Budde; his | 6 | | brother-in-law, Andrew Budde; his nieces and nephews, Jaden, | 7 | | Jerald, Jolene, and Jacqueline Downs, Landon and Levi Stratton, | 8 | | and Jackson Budde; and his many aunts, uncles, and cousins; | 9 | | therefore, be it
