SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of James Narcissus "Jim" De Wulf of Moline,
4who passed away on December 7, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jim De Wulf was born in Moline to Narcissus James
6and Ann (De Doncker) De Wulf on March 14, 1936; he played
7basketball for Alleman High School, where he held numerous
8records at the time of his graduation; during his prep career,
9he earned all-state honors as a senior from both the Chicago
10Daily News and the Champaign News-Gazette; he went on to play
11basketball for Loyola University Chicago and served as the
12Rambler co-captain in 1958; he earned his Juris Doctorate from
13DePaul University and served as an officer in the U.S. Army
14Judge Advocate General's Corps; he married Judith Meyers in Ft.
15Leonard Wood, Missouri on August 17, 1963; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Jim De Wulf served as the Rock Island County
17State's Attorney from 1968 to 1972; he enjoyed a long and
18successful career in private practice and was a member of the
19Illinois Bar Association; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Jim De Wulf was inducted into the Illinois
21Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1978; he enjoyed
22golfing, watching his grandchildren play sports, and was an

1avid follower of all things sports; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Jim De Wulf was preceded in death by his parents
3and his wife, Judy; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Jim De Wulf is survived by his children, Victoria
5(Thomas) Boney, Jim (Kelley) De Wulf, and Suzanne (Scott)
6Mehaffy; eight grandchildren; and his brother, Joseph De Wulf
7D.D.S.; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10James Narcissus "Jim" De Wulf and extend our sincere
11condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
12him; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Jim De Wulf as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
