HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Eddie L.
4Jones II, who passed away on May 27, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Eddie Jones II was born in Cotton Plant, Arkansas
6to Eddie L. and Rosie L. Jones on March 27, 1952; he moved to
7Chicago with his family in 1956; he spent his childhood and
8teenage years in the Chicago neighborhood now referred to as
9Bronzeville; he attended Mayo Elementary School and graduated
10from Wendell Phillips High School in 1970; he received a
11bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Western
12Illinois University in 1974; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Eddie Jones II worked for IBM for over 30 years;
14after leaving IBM, he worked for All Points Security; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Eddie Jones II was a lifelong member of Alpha Phi
16Alpha fraternity, where he served as the Chapter President of
17Iota Delta Lambda and chairman of the March of Dimes; he served
18as chairman of the Iota Delta Lambda Educational Foundation for
19ten years; he was a dedicated philanthropist and traveled to
20Africa with the White House Advance Team under President Bill
21Clinton; he was a prominent face and force in city and State
22politics and served as president of the Chicago Urban League

1Metro Board; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Eddie Jones II enjoyed spending time with his
3family and playing baseball and golf; he especially enjoyed
4music by The Spinners; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Eddie Jones II is survived by his children, Iesha
6James, Matthew Jones, and Meghan Jones; and his four
7grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
9HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we mourn the passing of Eddie L. Jones II and extend our
11sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
12and loved him; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Eddie Jones II as an expression of
15our esteem and respect.
