Amends the Election Code. Provides that a person registering to vote in any election under the Code may include his or her maiden or former name, together with his or her current legal name, in his or her registered name.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The Election Code is amended by adding Section |
| 5 | | 1-21 as follows:

| 6 | | (10 ILCS 5/1-21 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 1-21. Maiden or former name. Notwithstanding any |
| 8 | | provision of law to the contrary, a person registering to vote |
| 9 | | in any election under this Code may include his or her maiden |
| 10 | | or former name, together with his or her current legal name, in |
| 11 | | his or her registered name.
