105 ILCS 5/34-18.61 new

Amends the School Code. Provides that a school board shall require its schools to either connect at-risk students with anger management classes offered in the community or conduct their own anger management classes for at-risk students. Provides that if the school board requires a school to conduct these classes, the classes do not have to be implemented until the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year. Effective immediately.

AN ACT concerning education.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections 10-20.69 and 34-18.61 as follows:

(105 ILCS 5/10-20.69 new)

Sec. 10-20.69. Anger management classes. A school board shall require its schools to either connect at-risk students with anger management classes offered in the community or conduct their own anger management classes for at-risk students. If the school board requires a school to conduct these classes, the classes do not have to be implemented until the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year.

Sec. 34-18.61. Anger management classes. The board shall require its schools to either connect at-risk students with anger management classes offered in the community or conduct their own anger management classes for at-risk students. If the board requires a school to conduct these classes, the classes do not have to be implemented until the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
