| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Harry A. Peterson of Rock Island, who | 4 | | passed away on October 30, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Harry Peterson was born in Moline to Axel and | 6 | | Jennie Munson Peterson on December 13, 1922; he served in the | 7 | | United States Army Air Corps as a squadron navigator in the | 8 | | South Pacific during World War II and earned the Distinguished | 9 | | Flying Cross and the Air Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster; he | 10 | | married Marion Yager in Moline on August 24, 1946; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Harry Peterson worked as an educator in the Rock | 12 | | Island School District for 41 years as a teacher, assistant | 13 | | principal, and principal; he was a past president of the Rock | 14 | | Island Education Association; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Harry Peterson was a proud, lifelong resident of | 16 | | Rock Island and was active in the community; he was an active | 17 | | member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Island; as a | 18 | | veteran, he traveled on an Honor Flight of the Quad Cities and | 19 | | said it was an experience of a lifetime; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Harry Peterson was handy and built his own house | 21 | | in Rock Island and also helped family members with their own |

| 1 | | homes; he was part of the cabin house build in Michigan on the | 2 | | Upper Peninsula; this cabin was a favorite place to gather with | 3 | | family and friends; he was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and | 4 | | a cribbage player; he enjoyed spending time with his family, | 5 | | especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Harry Peterson was preceded in death by his wife, | 7 | | Marion; his parents; his brother, George Peterson; and his | 8 | | sister, Ruby Trich; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Harry Peterson is survived by his children, | 10 | | Deborah (James) Braet, Christine (Saad) Ahmed, Bruce (Sherry) | 11 | | Peterson, Pamela (Stephen) Saunders, Nan Hasenberg, Thomas | 12 | | (Phyllis) Peterson, and James (Jennifer) Peterson; his | 13 | | grandchildren, Kristin (Jeff) Stiefvater and their children, | 14 | | Hayes and Abby, Craig (Kelly) Braet and their children, | 15 | | Katelyn, Kelsey, and Clayton, Noah (Rachel) Ahmed and their | 16 | | son, Noah, Kyle (Divya) Peterson and their children, Shiv, | 17 | | Dhruv, and Naina, Brett Peterson, Todd (Emily) Peterson and | 18 | | their son, Jensen, Kina Peterson, Fuzzy (Liz) Saunders and | 19 | | their children, Alaina and Jack, Cameron Saunders, Bryan | 20 | | Saunders, Alison (Nick) Boisvert, Luke Hasenberg, Lisa | 21 | | Hasenberg, Emily Peterson, Matthew Peterson, Elias (Sarah) | 22 | | Peterson and their daughter, Katie, and Brady, Sam, and Will | 23 | | Peterson; his special friend and caregiver, Nancy Patton; and | 24 | | his many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews; |

| 2 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 3 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 4 | | Harry A. Peterson and extend our sincere condolences to his | 5 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 6 | | further
| 7 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 8 | | presented to the family of Harry Peterson as an expression of | 9 | | our deepest sympathy.
